MOTORIST’S CORNER - Nimrod NL Quiones - The Philippine Star

We chanced upon CITOM Chairman Jack Jakosalem over the weekend and he told us that they have already disallowed the use of city-owned tents for wakes, which is an answer to the clamor of many motorists.

Aside from that, Jack said that they have also sent a memo to the barangays not to allow the use of their tents for similar purpose.

While it is part of Filipino tradition to pay respects to the departed, it should be done in a manner that those who attend the wake are not put in danger or that such wakes would not impede the flow of traffic.

Jack also said that those who have concerns for CITOM can text 0916-3999500. We suggest that you save this in your phone for quick access to CITOM.

Also, you can email CITOM at [email protected]. Jack said that this is for complaints, suggestions, opinions, and info on harassment including those about 'kurakot' enforcers.

It seems that the new chairman is already moving forward and we hope that this will be sustained.

Many wonder if the officials of Talisay City care about what's happening in their area.

A reader, who came across our account of a near mishap at the Cebu South Coastal Road, said that he has noticed that many trisikad drivers don't bother about safety, but this can be easily addressed in the officials of the city would do something.

"Naa pa pod nang mga illegally parked vehicles sa coastal road, wala sila kakita nga kuyaw kayo na sa disgrasya? Ambot ngano nibalhin kog puyo sa Talisay, murag wa may klaro gyud diri," the reader also lamented.

We have also personally seen how drivers don't bother about causing traffic at corner Dumlog. What can the city officials say about this?

The situation in corner Dumlog, Talisay City is also very similar to the one in Tintay, Talamban.

Many readers have complained about the jeepneys that stop in that corner to pick up passengers even if it is a NO STOPPING ANYTIME zone.

Several readers have asked us to relay this matter to the authorities concerned.

We do see somebody there during peak hours of traffic in the morning, but then the problem happens during the other times of the day when the enforcer or tanod assigned is not around.

We encourage all our readers to check if your windshield wipers and washers work properly as we are in the rainy season.

Also check your tires and replace those that need to be replaced before you skid somewhere due to the lack of traction.
