Noynoy's new home is Bahay Pangarap

MANILA, Philippines - President-elect Benigno Aquino III has chosen to stay at the Bahay Pangarap for the next six years.

“Most probably at (Bahay) Pangarap. The house is still undergoing repairs and it would take at least a month before I can move in,” Aquino told GMA-7 yesterday.

Aquino made the statement following constant queries over where he would stay during the six years of his presidency.

Aquino, still a bachelor at 50, had said Malacañang is just too big for him. He also said the Arlegui Mansion, where his late mother former President Corazon Aquino had stayed, brings back sad memories.

Aquino also said their family residence at Times Street in Quezon City would be impractical, since it would also be a security concern for his neighbors.

The Bahay Pangarap, on the other hand, is located at the headquarters of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) across the Pasig River from Malacañang.

Aquino also told GMA-7 that his sisters would not hold any key positions during his presidency.

Shortly after announcing the names of his Cabinet in a press conference in Quezon City, Aquino led his siblings in visiting the graves of their parents at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque.

The Aquinos also attended a Mass officiated by Fr. Tito Arevalo, who would also lead the prayer in today’s inauguration.

Aquino said he prayed for his late parents and his sisters, and expressed gratitude for the support of family.

“They became the rock that laid down my foundation... I also included my brothers-in-law in my prayers....

“I also prayed for His guidance to allow me to be His instrument for peace and unity in the world,” Aquino said.
