Erap, Binay wind down campaign with miting de avance today
MANILA, Philippines - The tandem of former President Joseph Estrada and Makati City Mayor Jejomar Binay will lead the senatorial candidates of the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) for their miting de avance today to wind down their campaign for the elections on Monday.
Estrada and Binay will be joined by local candidates in Makati City that would include Binay’s son, city councilor Junjun running for mayor, and daughter Abby seeking representation for the city’s congressional district.
The miting de avance would be held at the track and field oval of the University of Makati starting at 5 p.m.
PMP campaign manager Ernesto Maceda said it was remarkable that no one among the candidates got sick during the campaign.
“I’m just so thankful that we are finishing this campaign and we never got sick, especially former President Estrada, who is now 73, and Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile who is now 86,” he said.
PMP spokesman Ralph Calinisan said Estrada and Binay will play “the lead roles” during the miting de avance.
“People should expect a jampacked crowd… full of our campaign volunteers, overflowing with their support. It will be a no frills rally where former President Estrada, Mayor Binay and the masa (mass) would play the lead roles,” he said.
