Dureza back as Mindanao adviser

MANILA, Philippines - Former presidential legal counsel Jesus Dureza is returning to his old post as presidential adviser on Mindanao affairs, Malacañang announced yesterday.

Dureza would return to his old position to advise Malacañang over economic developments in Mindanao after being replaced by former Justice secretary Raul Gonzalez.

Dureza served briefly as press secretary after he was presidential adviser on the peace process.

He also held several appointive positions in the government, mostly dealing with the economic development of Mindanao.

Dureza served as chairman of the Mindanao Economic Development Council (MEDCo) and headed the government peace panel negotiating with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). – Paolo Romero
