ZAMBOANGA, Philippines – Gunmen abducted a farmer here, despite a high-profile crackdown to try to stem the recent spike in kidnappings, officials said yesterday.
At least 11 gunmen took Doroteo Gonzales last Saturday from his house in a coastal village of Zamboanga City. He is the latest of several kidnapping victims in the volatile region in recent months, including an Italian Red Cross worker still being held after three months in captivity.
