MANILA, Philippines – The P184-million jackpot prize for lotto 6/49 has remained elusive to bettors, so the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) may just give away its highest jackpot prize ever when the draw resumes next week after the Lenten break.
PCSO spokesman Dr. Larry Cedro said nobody won the P184-million jackpot during last Sunday’s draw. The combination was 5-6-15-17-21-38.
“It’s becoming more and more exciting. Our bold prediction is that it will reach more than P200 million, our highest jackpot price ever,” he told The STAR.
The jackpot prize had rolled over after 15 draws from the minimum prize of P16 million last Jan. 27.
Since then, thousands of bettors have been swarming lotto outlets all over the country for a chance to win instant cash. Each bet costs P20.
Cedro noted that so far, the biggest bonanza given away by the PCSO in October 2002 was P202 million.
He added that from the March 13 to 16 draws, the PCSO recorded a mark-up of P20 million in the top prize so they expect a higher increase because of the Lenten break.
“There’ll be a bigger window period because of Lent so more people will be able to place their bets. We are expecting a bigger (mark-up this time). It will likely surpass (the P202-million jackpot prize),” he said.
