DPWH chief assures quality of projects

Public Works Secretary Florante Soriquez said his department’s projects will "withstand the test of time."

Soriquez said policies ensuring the quality of work within the DPWH, with the help of the department’s quality assurance units (QUA), are being implemented and all projects meet the high standards of the department.

"So far, a total of 772 on-going and completed projects were assessed by the Quality Assurance Units, with around 300 contractors required to institute corrective measures on deficiencies noted on their projects under contract with the DPWH," Soriquez said.

"This activity will result to longer life of the infrastructure projects since the QUA assessment will ensure strict implementation of projects according to plans and specifications," he added.

The maintenance and improvement of work in the department is one of Soriquez’s six policy directions, which include the fast-tracking of projects, transparency in operation, application of information technology, promoting accountability, and reorientation of department officials.
