Rasul, 80

Retired ambassador Abraham Rasul, former envoy to Saudi Arabia, died yesterday morning at the National Kidney Institute in Quezon City at the age of 80. He is survived by his wife, former Sen. Santanina Rasul.

A son of the late Sen. Hadji Butu Abdul Bacqui, the first Muslim Filipino senator, Rasul served as a judge of Sulu before he was appointed Philippine ambassador to Saudi Arabia by President Corazon Aquino from 1989 until 1993.

Rasul also held the office of Commissioner of National Integration, a Cabinet position.
