Reyes, 95

-
Igmedio C. Reyes, one of the pioneer settlers of Bongabon, Oriental Mindoro and perhaps its oldest resident, died yesterday after a lingering illness. He was three weeks shy in his 96th birthday.

Reyes, the father of former Oriental Mindoro Vice Gov. Pedrito Reyes and the grandfather of STAR associate editor Joanne Rae Ramirez, was a gentleman-farmer for much of his adult life, reluctantly retiring from the fields only in his nineties. He would have it no other way.

He was married to the late Jovita Arellano Reyes, and is now survived by children Sonia Mayor, Pat Malto, Pedrito, Nestor, Igmedio Jr., Eduardo and Caesar, 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

His remains lie at the Holy Trinity Chapels along Sucat Road in Parañaque City. Interment will be announced later.
