US President George W. Bush has invited President Arroyo to a working visit to the United States from Nov. 18-20, Malacañang and the White House announced simultaneously yesterday.
Bush invited Mrs. Arroyo to Washington DC to mark the 50th anniversary of the Mutual Defense Treaty (MDT) between the two nations, said Press Undersecretary Roberto Capco.
Mrs. Arroyo will meet the US president on Nov. 20, hours before she addresses the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Capco said, reading from a White House statement.
The official announcement prepared by the White House said Bush was pleased to host Mrs. Arroyo on the event of the MDTs 50th anniversary since "the US and the Philippines are treaty allies and share a long history of close friendship and cooperation."
