In thanksgiving for its 15th anniversary this year, The Philippine STAR will be holding a promo for its readers starting today, June 3. Entitled "Dream Lifestyles," the promo will earn readers a chance to win big prizes starting with a Crown Asia house and lot worth P2 million.
"Dream Lifestyles" is the biggest newspaper promo ever, and it is brought to readers by The Philippine STAR in partnership with Crown Asia, Universal Motors Corp., Northwest Airlines, Shopwise and Sharp (Phils.) Corp.
Aside from being the biggest newspaper promo ever, "Dream Lifestyles" also reinforces The STAR’s foothold among its "new lifestyle" readers. It incorporates an SMS-based text poll where legions of Globe and Smart/Talk n’ Text subscribers can join a daily text survey and get the chance to win a P1,000 shopping spree at Shopwise. The text poll is posted on the front page and will run for the next six months.
On top of this text promo is the "Dream Lifestyles" raffle promo which starts tomorrow and offers readers a bevy of big prizes which could be won in monthly and grand draws.
All readers have to do is to cut out daily coupons on Page 2 of The STAR, fill out the required information and drop them at designated dropboxes in Rustan’s and Shopwise.
First on the list of prizes to be drawn during the Dec. 21, 2001 grand draw is a dream house  a P2-million Crown Asia house and lot located in the Gardens of Maia Alta in Antipolo, Rizal. Crown Asia Properties is a subsidiary of the MB Villar Group, a builder of dream homes for many Filipinos.
Readers also have a chance to drive home their dream van  a ravishing 2.7L Nissan Urvan Escapade from Universal Motors Corp. which is up for grabs in the grand draw.
Aside from these, the promo could be a STAR reader’s ticket to a dream getaway to the US via Northwest Airlines. Two winners of Northwest Airlines roundtrip tickets to the US will be drawn in December.
Finally, "Dream Lifestyles" will also draw five winners of dream shopping sprees at Shopwise worth P10,000 each.
"Shopwise is proud to be the exclusive retail partner in The STAR’s Dream Lifestyles promo. Through this unique promo concept, The Philippine STAR has once again demonstrated its progressive thinking and customer-driven culture, values which we also give emphasis to at Shopwise. We are confident that this promotion will generate excitement among the many readers of The Philippine STAR," Shopwise vp-marketing Frances Yu said.
In addition to the grand draw, monthly draws will also be held, with a 29-inch Sharp Aphrody color TV and 10 sports watches at stake among raffle participants every month. The first monthly draw is scheduled on June 29, 2001.
Providing the Votxt services for daily text poll is Bidshot.com, which also expressed its excitement over the promo. "We’re in the business of bringing wireless applications closer to people, and we’ve found the perfect opportunity with The Philippine STAR," Bidshot managing director Patrick Garcia said.
"In providing a wireless or texting aspect to the promo, we’ve opened up a revolutionary and groundbreaking mode of promotion open to all mobile phone users," Garcia added.
In coming up with a promo of this magnitude, The Philippine STAR wishes to express its thanks to its countless readers whose support has ensured the continued success of the newspaper. The STAR celebrates its 15th anniversary in July this year.
