ZAMBOANGA CITY - A 34-year-old businessman from Lanao del Sur was freed by his kidnappers after his family paid a P200,000 ransom, police said.
The captors of Mangondaya Macre earlier demanded P400,000 but later reduced the amount to P200,000.
Macre was snatched by armed men, led by one Samsoden Rangaig Dimasungkay, while cruising along the Marawi-Iligan highway last Tuesday, according to Chief Superintendent Dominador Domingo, Western Mindanao police director.
Investigation showed that Dimasungkay wanted to get even with Macre whose relatives earlier abducted him and demanded ransom.
Meanwhile, agents of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force have arrested two of the four suspected abductors of Zam-boanga City businesswoman Juanita Lee.
Arrested were Sali Yunos and Romeo Andogao, brother of principal suspect Nestor Andogao. A fourth suspect, Rodrigo Awid, surrendered a few days after Lee was seized at midnight of Jan. 9 at her residence in Barangay Tetuan this city.
