The Senate denies reports it has a confidential fund of P331 million for 2023.

In a statement, Senate Secretary Renato Bantug Jr says that the Senate and its leadership believes that the upper chamber "does not need confidential funds."

“He (Senate President Miguel Zubiri) has been actively saying that confidential and intelligence funds should be for our military, police and other uniformed personnel who protect our country from both internal and external security threats,” Bantug says. — Rosette Adel

House small committee removes confidential funds from government offices and departments as it introduces institutional amendments to the proposed 2024 national budget.

The confidential funds have been realigned from Office of the Vice President Department of Education Department of Agriculture Department of Information and Communications Technology Department of Foreign Affairs to agencies in charge of ensuring national security. — Rosette Adel

House Speaker Martin Romuldez demands the resignation of the Office of Transport Security Mao Aplasca "failing to stop repeated nefarious activities by security personnel at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport."

He is also advising the OTS chief to submit the courtesy resignation before the House of Representatives tackle the proposed 2024 budget of OTS.

The Senate Committee on Finance approves during its budget hearing on Wednesday, September 20, the proposed P7 billion budget of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) and the National Amnesty Commission (NAC).

Presidential Peace Adviser Secretary Carlito G. Galvez Jr., presents the agency’s budget proposal along with OPAPRU Senior Undersecretary Isidro Purisima and Presidential Assistants Wilben Mayor and Arnulfo Pajarillo.

Galvez says it is "high time for the government to invest more resources in peacebuilding, as the country is now heading towards the era of post-conflict reconstruction, rehabilitation and transition."

The House Committee on Appropriations, chaired by Rep. Elizaldy Co (AKO BICOL Party-list) resumes the scrutiny of the proposed P5.768 trillion 2024 national budget.

On Monday, the House panel deliberations on the spending plan for Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).

Co is joined by  Stella Luz Quimbo (Marikina, 2nd district) and Rep. Raul Angelo “Jil” Bongalon (AKO BICOL Party-list), who are the Senior Vice Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the Committee on Appropriations, respectively, and Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan in the budget hearing.

PAGCOR chair and Chief Executive Officer Alejandro Tengco says the agency aims to increase contribution to the national government.
