Vice mayor’s son charged over road crash

MANILA, Philippines — Cases of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property have been filed against a son of Marikina Vice Mayor Del de Guzman, who figured in a road crash that killed a public school teacher.
The charges were filed against David Aldre de Guzman before the city prosecutor’s office, according to Marikina police chief Col. Jenny Tecson.
De Guzman was apprehended after the sport utility vehicle he was driving hit 27-year-old Alexander Cruz at the corner of Gen. Ordonez and Russet streets in Barangay Concepcion Dos on June 13.
Cruz died on June 20 after being in a coma for a week.
Police initially filed complaints for reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries and damage to property as well as violation of the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act against De Guzman.
