Expanded village electrification covers 40 remote households

DUPAX DEL SUR, Nueva Vizcaya , Philippines — Forty households in a remote barangay in this town are now connected to a power grid as the provincial government continues to expand its electrification program.
The eletrification of Sitios Nangamianan, Binagiwan and Mapusi in Barangay Biruk was made possible through the partnership of the Nueva Vizcaya Electric Cooperative (Nuvelco) and the provincial government, and funding from the National Electrification Administration.
Nuvelco general manager Fredel Salvador said 81 power posts were installed to extend power services to the sitios.
Salvador thanked Gov. Jose Gambito for helping Nuvelco secure funds and deliver materials needed for the project.
Gambito said electricity empowers households to become more productive and communities to actively participate in local economic growth.
