MANILA, Philippines- Jonalyn Viray admits that the song “Help Me Get Over” helped a lot in her career.

The song was used as theme song for GMA Network’s primetime drama series “My Husband’s Lover.”

“Sobrang laki nang naitulong talaga,” Jonalyn admits in an interview Tuesday, February 18. “I want to thank Kuya Tata Betita, siya ‘yong songwriter ng kanta. Sabi niya sa akin that time na ako ang gusto niya mag-interpret ng kanta.”

This new single is nominated in MYX Music Awards 2014 for Favorite Mellow Video, Favorite Media Soundtrack, and Jonalyn nominated for Favorite Female Artist.

At the moment, the Kapuso singer is busy preparing for her concert slated on February 28 with Regine Velasquez, Kuh Ledesma, and Brenan Espartinez at the Music Museum.

Independent film

Jonalyn is also busy promoting her independent film “Cattleya: An OFW Story” which stars Glaiza de Castro.

The singer's character in the film is Glaiza’s friend.

The film is about a woman who wants to work abroad to be able to provide for her family, but because of her desire to earn more than what she already does, she became a drug mule.

“Kasi matagal-tagal na rin po, e, since my last acting,” she replied when asked why she decided to accept the project. “I think every time na mag-guest ako sa TV show more on singing."

“So parang na-miss ko rin po kahit papaano, so nang magkaro’n ng offer to do a movie hindi na ako nagdalawang isip. Since maganda rin po ang storyline ng indie film na ito, kaya tinanggap namin.”

Though she hopes to do more acting projects, this doesn’t mean that Jonalyn wants a change of career, “hindi ko pa rin kakalimutan ‘yong first love ko which is singing. Mas focus pa rin ako doing concerts, albums. Pero kapag may nag-offer [na gumawa ng acting projects], sige, go!”

“Cattleya: An OFW Story” will open in selected cinemas starting February 26.
