Philstar.com MUSIC Interviews: Mike Swift

MANILA, Philippines - Mike Swift has a dream. One day, he hopes to fill up Araneta Coliseum with the Pinoy hip hop community. For a country that has a preference for pop and rock, it has been a challenging road for the urban music genre. But for rap artists like Mike Swift who are fueled by passion and determination, no dream is impossible.

Step by step, he has been making things happen. A Pinoy born in New York, he has no qualms about his love for the homeland. His first collection, “Pinoy’s Finest Mixtape Vol. 1” was a declaration of his roots and a testament to his talent. He also built a record label in the U.S, making him the first Pinoy to do so. He has also recorded songs under Death Row’s Suge Knight in Paramount Studios.

Mike’s dream of getting on a billboard on Edsa has also come true, showing that with faith and perseverance, nothing is impossible.
