SYNOPSIS: Katapusang Labok depicts the struggles of fishermen who must deal with environmental abuse and the effects of coral harvesting on their livelihood.
FILMMAKER PROFILE: Aiess Alonso is an activist and has graduated with a degree in Film from the U.P. Film Institute. She was a scholar in the Film and Media Program of India Study Abroad Center in Mumbai, India. She is part of the first Talent Campus of the Hanoi International Film Festival last November 2012. She will be participating in this year's NAFF Fantastic Film School of the Puchon Int'l Fantastic Film Festival in Korea. "Katapusang Labok" was her undergraduate thesis film that exposes the plight of the fisherfolks through the language and culture of her hometown Cebu.
