MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has suspended work on Dec. 24 and 31 and will not entertain filing of petitions on these dates.

In an advisory, the Comelec said it will not engage in any transaction with the public on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

“Please take notice that work in the Commission on Elections is suspended on the 24th and 31st of December 2024 by virtue of the Memorandum dated 16 December 2024 by the Office of the Executive Director of the Commission,” the advisory read.

The commission said filing of any pleadings and motions on those dates is thus suspended.

“The filing of petitions, answers, motions and other pleadings, whether personal or through e-mail, on the next working day shall be deemed filed on time,” the Comelec said.
