MANILA, Philippines — Bollywood stars will come to the Philippines for the Diwali Festival happening on November 4 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Plenary Hall in Pasay City.
Gracing the event are Bollywood stars Inderjit Nikku, Kulwinder Kally, Gurlej Akhtar and Gurnam Bhullar.
Ravinder Singh, chief executive officer of Desi Matters Productions and the event director, said that Indians celebrate Diwali as their New Year.
“Diwali is India’s Festival of lights. It’s one of the biggest festivals we have. It celebrates the victory of good over evil or light over darkness. We Indians celebrate it as new year,” he told Philstar.com.
Singh also explained why they decided to celebrate the festival in the Philippines.
“Our purpose is to celebrate it here to unite the Indian diaspora, build mutual understanding between the Indian and Filipino communities and have a cultural exchange with Filipinos and Indians living here in the Philippines,” he said.
