After seven years of being committed to each other, Jay-R and Mica Javier finally tied the knot in a wedding ceremony at The Lind in Boracay last March 1.
Jay-R and Mica shared that the wedding was supposed to take place in an earlier date but they had to postpone it due COVID-19.
“It did get postponed because we’re having two (wedding ceremonies),” began Jay-R. “We’re having one (civil) in L.A. for my family and then, we had our ceremony in Boracay. The civil was postponed.”
“That was supposed to happen in February,” Mica continued. “And when the news broke about Coronavirus, we decided that it would be safer for our family not to fly because 12, 13 hours on a flight is just scary at that time. So, we just prayed for our March 1 wedding to push through. We really did everything to prepare and make sure it just flows smoothly. We wanted to make sure everyone that shows up is comfortable.”
Among those who attended the wedding were the couple’s closest friends Iya Villania, Coleen Garcia, Billy Crawford, Kris Lawrence, Jaya, Jayson Dy, Kylie Versoza and Jay-R’s management team from Cornerstone.
Jay-R and Mica’s wedding photo posted by Coleen on her Instagram (@coleen) gained over half a million views. The caption read, “This is true love. We love you guys so much!!!! Sooooo happy for you, and forever here for you both!”
Mica confirmed talks that she ran to the bathroom a few minutes before walking down the aisle. She recalled that was the time when she was writing down her vows.
“This was around 40 minutes before walking down the aisle. I was all dressed up and ready. Then, this guy (pointing to Jay-R) texted me that he’s done with his vows. Ako, wala pa and that time I couldn’t think of anything.”
“I felt so pressured to think of what to say because I wanted it to be meaningful. I wanted it to show everything that I felt for him — you know, what I felt for us and (tell something) relatable also. So, I had to go to the bathroom and they were telling me, ‘Hindi, butterflies (in the stomach) lang ‘yan and so many brides feel that way.’ After, I just sat down and once I started focusing, it flowed.”
For his part, Jay-R shared that he told himself not to cry, yet his tears instantly rolled down his cheeks upon seeing his bride. He amusingly said, “It was hot then so my eyes were sweating, hahahaha.
“But yeah, I told myself na gusto kong composure ko cool ako sa videos but when she came out, wow ang hirap talaga, I couldn’t hold it in.”
Asked if they are starting a family soon, the couple declared they will first enjoy being husband and wife.
Meanwhile, the couple announced that they recently released new songs. Now available on Spotify is Mica’s original composition titled Honest, under Homeworkz Entertainment. Its music video will come out soon. According to Mica, she composed the song last year after a long time of not being able to write songs.
“It’s about something that you don’t really need in your life and you can walk away from it and keep your space positive and what is good for you.”
Jay-R has a new single called Boo which is also available on digital music platforms. The beat-laden track is a declaration of his love for Mica in true R&B fashion. He, too, did a collaboration with Luke Mejares for Pa’no Ang Gabi. Jay-R is encouraging everyone to support Original Pilipino Music (OPM).
