MANILA, Philippines — Kapamilya actress Anne Curtis is ready to suit up as Darna’s greatest villainess Valentina.
Anne, however, clarified that there are still no offers from the film’s production for her to play the role.
“More than anything, I’d be more interested siguro in playing a villainess of kahit sinong Mars Ravelo character. I have fun kasi playing kontrabida. I’d totally be open to doing it,” the “It’s Showtime” host said during the launch of the mobile app game Pinoy Komiks Heroes Battle, produced by Xeleb Technologies, where she is a shareholder. Xeleb Technologies is ABS-CBN’s partner in the project.
When asked in the press conference if she particularly wants to play the role of Valentina, Anne said: “If given the opportunity, I would love to.”
Interestingly, Director Erik Matti, who is handling the “Darna” movie to be released this year, is also the director of Anne’s action movie “Buy Bust.”
Matti once said in an interview that he wants Anne to become Valentina in his movie. He is also the one who picked Liza Soberano to replace Angel Locsin in the title role after Locsin begged off due to spine injury.
“Why not? Of course, why not?” Anne told Philstar.com of the possibility of playing Valentina, in an earlier interview during her launch as Shiseido Collagen endorser.
“I think villains have more fun! Actually! I think, I will be open for it. I think it will be a lot of fun!”
In an interview during a Pantene event, Anne’s sister, Jasmine Curtis, told Philstar.com that she thinks her “ate” would be perfect as Valentina because both Valentina and Anne portray images of a fierce, empowered woman.
Jasmine is also willing to do the role, although she has hesitations because as endorser a hair care brand, the brand might not agree to see her trading her luscious locks for snakes.
Meanwhile, Pinoy Komiks Heroes Battle is a challenging puzzle game wherein players have to complete level goals within a limited number of moves. Successful moves have users fighting side by side with Darna, Captain Barbell, and Lastikman as they square off with their infamous foes and nemeses such as Valentina, Babaeng Lawin, Don Ramon, and Prof. Sixto.
Anne, one of Xeleb’s co-owners, shared that users will love to play this game with the famous Pinoy superheroes. “We Filipinos grew up with Darna, Captain Barbel and Lastikman. That is why it is really exciting to battle alongside them in this new game.”
The mobile game was recently previewed at the ABS-CBN booth in the ComicCon Asia 2018 held at the SMX Convention Center. — Reports from Deni Rose M. Afinidad-Bernardo
