MANILA, Philippines — Brillante Mendoza is planning to submit his Cannes-acclaimed film "Ma'Rosa" in this year's Metro Manila Film Festival. This is his way of sharing to the Filipino people what judges at the Cannes Film Festival saw in his film that made them vote for Jaclyn Jose to win this year's best actress award.

He's also thankful that his film has brought pride to the country.

"Tagumpay nating lahat 'to bilang Pilipino," he said in an interview with Ginger Conejero, aired in "V Patrol" on Tuesday.

"Natutuwa kami sa ganitong paraan, sa ganitong pelikula namin nag-compete siya with a giant," he added. "Alam natin and nakita natin si Jaclyn Jose na she won against the giant."

In a separate report by the Philippine Entertainment Portal, Jaclyn Jose said she is happy with the positive comments about their film.

As for her critics who said her performance in the film is just for support, "If you see the film, you'll say it's not a supporting [role]. You'll see," she said. — Joyce Jimenez
