'Felix Manalo' breaks two Guinness world records

MANILA, Philippines — The biopic "Felix Manalo" bagged two Guinness world records when it held its worldwide premiere at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan on Sunday.

The movie, which tells the story of religious group Iglesia ni Cristo founder Felix Manalo, broke the current Guinness world records for largest audience for a film screening and largest audience at a film premiere.

The "Felix Manalo" premiere was attended by 43,624 guests.

The record for largest attendance for a film screening was previously held by the United States, where a screening for a documentary titled "Honor Flight" was attended by 28,422 people in 2012.

Guinness World Records adjudicators Marco Frigatti and Victoria Tweedey also attended to the hand the certificates to members of Iglesia ni Cristo.

"Felix Manalo," which stars Dennis Trillo and Bela Padilla and is directed by Joel Lamangan and written by INC Executive Minister Bienvenido Santiago, will open in theaters on October 7.
