MANILA, Philippines – Lorna Tolentino is happy to live a single life after the death of her husband Rudy Fernandez.
“Siguro mga forty something puwede pa,” she replied when asked if she’s looking for a lifetime partner, in an interview on Tuesday.
“Concentrate ako sa aking health. So paano ako magkaka-companion? Kumbaga inaayos ko ang sarili ko, and kapag na-ayos ko ang sarili ko it’s too late.”
The 53-year-old actress is a widow since 2008 when Rudy died due to periampullary cancer.
“So ‘yong maalagaan ko na lang si Lyla, makasabay ako, makarga ko, doon ang focus ko talaga,” she added.
Lyla is her grandchild with son Raphael Fernandez.
Every weekend, she would let Lyla tag along to their farm in Batangas. This is when she sees her potential to join showbiz in the future.
“Oo, ine-encourage ko nga mag-voice lessons, e,” she replied when asked if she’ll let her granddaughter to join showbiz. “‘I think you have to study Tagalog first. Para makausap ka namin, nagkakaintindihan tayo,' sabi ko. Tapos ngayon sabi ko ang sunod niya pag-aralan is singing talaga.”
She’ll also make sure to guide her career path in showbiz.
Lorna is part of TV5’s upcoming sitcom “Misterless Misis” together with Ruffa Gutierrez, Gelli de Belen, Mitch Valdez, Ritz Azul and Andi Gomez. It will air on August 9, 9 p.m. on TV5.
