MANILA, Philippines - Star Magic’s Robi Domingo (right) was hailed as the first ambassador of Goodwill last March 20 in Hokkaido, Japan. He was awarded by Hokkaido Vice Governor Yoshihiro Yamaya as the “Smile Ambassador” after his two documentaries titled Lakwatsero sa Hokkaido which was aired on ABS-CBN. Lakwatsero sa Hokkaido was co-produced by ABS-CBN Integrated News and Japan’s Sapporo-Hokkaido Contents Strategy Organization (SHOCS).
“I feel honored and thankful for the recognition. Part of my duties as an ambassador is to promote Hokkaido’s tourism and culture in any way possible here in the Philippines,” shared Robi.
During his trip, Robi was privileged to meet Hokkaido’s Takehiko Orimo, team leader of Levanga basketball team and Kouki Shimizu, town deputy mayor of Kembuchi. He got the chance to mingle with the Japanese community that supports Filipino authors. He was also invited for a talk about “Hokkaido can be a paradise for Filipinos to visit” in a seminar attended by Japanese businessmen and investors.
