MANILA, Philippines - Cris Villongco and Mark Bautista will play two of the lead roles in the theater adaptation of the 1985 film “Bituing Walang Ningning.”

They will play the roles of Lavinia and Nico, which were first portrayed by Cherie Gil and Christopher de Leon in the original film.

“Since I’m given a chance to play kontra-bida roles now, I will milk it and I will do my best,” said Villongco in an interview with Nelson Canlas, aired in “24 Oras” on Thursday. She’s currently portraying a villain role in GMA’s drama series “Ang Lihim ni Annasandra.”

On the other hand, Bautista is both excited and nervous about doing the musical.

“May mga songs na kailangan kong pag-aralan talaga, ibang technique. So may mga gano’ng training talagang ginawa ako,” he said.

As for the role of Sharon Cuneta as Dorina, an audition for the said role will happen on February 28 to March 3, at the Resorts World Manila and is open for both veteran and amateur theater performer, ages sixteen to twenty years old.

“Bituing Walang Ningning” is a story about a fan, Dorina, who was belittled by her idol Lavinia. Yet eventually the tables were turned as Lavinia lost her stardom and was taken over by her former fan Dorina.
