Body Talk with Jerico Ejercito

‘Who among my relatives do I idolize? My Tito Joseph (Estrada, former President and Manila Mayor). It’s because his roles as an action star and his record as a politician make me look up to him. But I think I’m more like my dad (former Laguna Gov. E.R. Ejercito).’

One more Ejercito (related to the Estradas and the Estregans) coming up.

The newcomer is none other than Jerico Ejercito, son of former Laguna Gov. E.R. Ejercito.

He’s the team captain of the Track and Field team of De La Salle University where he’s pursuing a Master’s Degree in Communication (major in Applied Mass Media), the same school where he graduated with a degree in AB Political Science.

A Virgo (born Aug. 30, 1992), Jerico stands 5’8”; weighs 150 lbs.; and wears medium-sized shirt, medium-sized briefs and size-10 shoes.

Is he following in his father’s footsteps into both showbiz and politics?

“As of now,” said Jerico, a spitting image of his father, “I’d choose to build myself up into showbiz.”

Like most of his relatives, he is a showbiz-bred guy.

“I feel lucky that my family’s commitments and responsibilities in showbiz and politics eventually shaped my upbringing,” admitted Jerico. “I learned how to stay down-to-earth. I also understood the pros and cons of facing challenges in showbiz and politics so that when I venture into those fields, I will be ready.”

Of his relatives, Jerico picked former Pres./Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada as his idol.

“His roles as an action star and his record as a politician make me look up to him like no other.”

“Growing up, I have slowly gained most of his talents which included being an athlete, a born leader and having the natural skills of acting. But I dance a whole lot better than he does.”

Now that he’s into showbiz, what genre (action, drama or romantic-comedy) would he want to excel in? Any pointers from his father?

“I would take any genre that I’d get a chance to be in as a challenge,” replied Jerico. “Even though I’d want to go into the action genre, I would still like to experience the other genres to further enhance my skills and talents.”

Any snacks in between meals?

“Sometimes, I eat high-protein peanut butter with bread or tuna sandwich with veggies but without mayo, of course.”

How much water do you take per day (soda, coffee, tea or energy drinks)?

“Because I train almost every day, I take at least five liters of water a day or even more, depending on the activities that I’ve done. I avoid drinking soda because I could feel the heavy amount of sugar and other ingredients that gets into my body and that stays usually until the following days. I’m more of a coffee drinker, too.”
