MANILA, Philippines - Patrick Garcia is finally engaged with his girlfriend Nikka Martinez to whom he already has a daughter.

Patrick told memembers of the media that the simple proposal happened on Sunday before the service. The actor is a Christian.

“I just spoke with our pastor and I asked them if I can propose to my girlfriend before the service started, sabi niya, ‘yeah, sige,’” Patrick recalled in an interview on Tuesday.

“The preparations naman, the only preparation siguro is I called the family, nagpaalam muna ako. I told them na ito ang gagawin ko.”

The two have been together for three years now and they already have one-year-old daughter Chelsea.

“Well, of course mararamdaman mo ‘yon, e,” he replied when asked when he felt that it's the right time to settle down.

“Of course we have a beautiful daughter together. So I took my walk with the Lord seriously and I found out that it will please the Lord if we get married and that’s what we’ll do. I’m gonna make it right, I want to make it right with the Lord.”

The wedding has been set on March 21 next year at the Blue Leaf Pavillion in Macapagal Avenue in Pasay City.

Meanwhile, Patrick said that his son with actress Jennylyn Mercado, Alex Jazz, already knows about the wedding.

The Kapamilya actor said he is happy that everything seems to be falling into place. Before his engagement, Patrick’s children had a get-together, which was arranged by his fiancée.

“It was my fiancée who approached Jen, and without me knowing. Kasi I’ve been telling my fiancée na I have to see my son. I don’t want to grow old without my son knowing me. It’s very important to me, and you know what’s important to me is also very important to her,” he said.

“So she surprised me by making paalam to Jen if I can see Jazz. Hopefully it stays that way. I don’t like to think of any issues or any problems na makakasira sa amin. Baby steps at a time.”

Meanwhile, after his successful drama series “Annaliza,” Patrick is set to star in the Filipino adaptation of the Korean series “Two Wives.”

He’ll be starring again with Kaye Abad, Erich Gonzales and Jason Abalos.

“Ang role ko po dito is si Albert. Perfect lover, very positive outlook in life and eventually falls in love with Kaye’s character,” he said.

The primetime drama series will start airing on Monday, replacing “Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon.”
