MANILA, Philippines – Although he does not consider himself a sexy actor, Derek Ramsay said he will shrug off any TV or movie roles that would require him to take his shirt off.

But the TV5 actor, who is part of the 2014 Cinemalaya film “The Janitor,” said he wants to be remembered for more than just being an on screen hunk.

“I want to be remembered as a good actor. That's how I want to be remembered, not just the guy who takes off his shirt,” he said in an interview with Philstar.com and other media outfits recently.

This does not mean Derek is turning his back on the “sexy” roles he's done in the past—particularly the hit movies “No Other Woman” and “A Secret Affair.”

However, Derek said he'll be on the lookout for darker roles from now on.

“For me, if the project requires me to take off my shirt and to be sexy and if I feel it's satisfied, shirt's coming off,” he quipped

Derek also said, “I'm not retiring from sexy roles. I have to give it thanks. It's gotten me to where I am.”

“But I'm looking forward to doing darker roles,” he added.

He's also not aiming for a best actor award, explaining he's more of a “team player” than an actor who wants to showcase his acting prowess.

“At the end of the day, when I pick projects, I'm not doing them because I want to win best actor. I'm a team player. I do what I can to make a project work,” he said. “If there's a best actor award, that's a bonus.”

Derek plays a corrupt cop in “The Janitor,” which also stars Dennis Trillo and is directed by Mike Tuviera.

“I like playing these dark roles,” he said of his role in “The Janitor” and “Trophy Wife. “Direk Tuviera  got scared that I kinda enjoyed it too much, playing this corrupt police officer.”
