SM Prime’s Hans Sy fetes int’l filmmakers

MANILA, Philippines - SM Prime Holdings, Inc. president Hans Sy recently hosted an exclusive dinner for internationally-acclaimed directors, producers, and actors during the début of the first-ever World Premieres Film Festival (WPFF).

A joint project of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), SM Lifestyle Entertainment, Inc. (SMLEI) and various embassies in the country, WPFF enriches and deepens the Philippines’ love for arts and culture through films. With 40 festival films from 27 countries, WPFF was the biggest international film festival in the Philippines this year.

During the dinner, Sy honored some of international cinema’s brightest stars: Brazilian director, screenwriter and producer Rosario Boyer and Guilherme Da Silveira; Iranian director and screenwriter Reza Azamian; French director, producer, cinematographer and screenwriter Dominic Bekaert; Spanish director, actor, screenwriter and cinematographer Juan Pinzas, director Arturo Prins and director and screenwriter Vicente Herrero; Ecuadorian director and screenwriter Alfredo Leon Leon; and Turkish director Feyzulla Serkan Acar. They were also welcomed by SMLEI president Edgar Tejerero and FDCP chairman Briccio Santos.

SM Cinema has been the largest film distributor in the country, helping the expansion of the local film industry. It is a part of SMLEI, which is now the educational, sports and recreational arm of SM Prime Holdings, Inc. which offers the best in movies, events, leisure and technology.

WPFF was shown in select SM Cinemas of Mall of Asia, Megamall, North EDSA, Sta. Mesa and Manila from July 2 to 8.
