Kaye Abad on relationship with Paul Jake: ' Hindi namin inaakala'

MANILA, Philippines – Kaye Abad said she didn't expect her friendship with Paul Jake Castillo to blossom into a romantic relationship.

The two admitted they are now officially a couple recently, just weeks after they started posting photos with each other on their social media accounts.

In an interview with members of the press, including Philstar.com, at the launch of the 2014 Yahoo! Celebrity Awards on Wednesday, June 4, the actress shared she initially thought falling for the Pinoy Big Brother alumnus was impossible.

“Sinasabi ko noon na hindi at imposible kasi very platonic yung relationship namin. Oo, magkasundo kami pero pag-iniisip ko na yung romantic side, parang hindi,” Kaye said. “Actually nagulat kaming dalawa and kinain ko yung mga sinabi ko na imposibleng maging kami.”

The 32-year-old actress revealed she even tried to set up Paul Jake on a date with another woman in the past. “Hindi namin in-expect na magiging kami. Hindi ko talaga inakala,” she said.

Kaye said she and Paul Jake have been friends since 2010, when they both starred in the afternoon soap opera “Alyna” with Shaina Magdayao and Jason Abalos.

Kaye was previously in a relationship with actor-singer Guji Lorenzana while Paul Jake was with actress Melissa Ricks.

Asked what she liked about her new boyfriend, she said: “Kung ano siya, kasi matagal na kaming magkaibigan. So nakilala ko siya, yung lahat—bad side niya, kung ano siya, walang pagkukunwari.”

Kaye admits she's currently scared of the idea of settling down. “Pero ayoko din magsabi ng patapos. We'll see,” she said. “Hindi natin alam kung ano yung mangyayari.”

She further said, “Hindi ko naman siya magiging boyfriend if I don't see myself with him. Sa edad kong ito, wala na ako doon sa stage na magboyfriend ay dahil like ko lang siya. Kailangan yung hahanapin ko yung makakasama ko sa buhay.”

Does she feel Paul Jake can be “the one”? “I don't want to say na he's the one because we don't know what will happen in the future, but I hope so,” Kaye said.
