MANILA, Philippines- Drew Barrymore is very happy to be able to work with Adam Sandler 10 years after their last movie, the "50 First Dates."
“We both felt it was time, let’s get something going,†Barrymore said. “And then, to Adam’s credit, he found us the perfect project—a big, fun comedy with real, touching moments.â€
The two have also worked in “The Wedding Singer.â€
Barymore said that what she loves the most about their tandem is that they take work seriously and at the same time be goofy about it.
“I think Adam and I have always been in sync and really bring out the best in each other,†she said. “I love working with him. We’re constantly thinking about how to make our characters more personal and genuine and there’s a lot of care that goes into it, but at the same time we can let go and be silly and free together.â€
She plays the role of Lauren, a recently divorced mother of two, who was encouraged by her friends to go on a blind date. She hesitantly agrees and meets Jim (Sandler) who is a widow.
What supposed to be a “getting to know each other†date ends up to be disastrous, which lead them to agree not to see each other again.
Destiny, however, have other plans for them as they'll be together with their kids for one week in a African safari resort. They get to know each other more, only for an incident to happened that makes them question the brewing romance between them.
“Who doesn’t want to laugh and escape into something that is actually about real life, and family, and love, and the day-to-day things we all go through with our marriages and our kids?†asked Barrymore. “It’s very relevant, and there are some heartfelt, meaningful moments in this movie that will definitely touch you, but make you feel good at the same time.â€
“Blended†is directed by Frank Coraci and will open in the Philippines on June 11.
