Carla, JC & Tom on cheating, falling in and out of love, etc.

“Bagay sila!”

With those two words, director Jun Lana sounded as if he has just sealed the fate of Carla Abellana and Tom Rodriguez who, together with JC de Vera, topbill Regal Films’ So It’s You, showing nationwide starting tomorrow.

But not yet. Carla is still recovering from her recent break-up with Geoff Eigenmann while Tom is suspected to be still going steady with Kaye (formerly K-La) Rivera. What about JC? Well, he’s presumed to be fancy free.

But direk Jun insists that Carla and Tom, last seen together in the hit GMA series My Husband’s Lover (as a couple whose marriage was threatened by a third party, closet-queen Tom’s lover played by Dennis Trillo), have “the right mix and strong chemistry” which is obvious in the romantic-comedy, Jun’s first venture into that genre. Carla herself doesn’t discount the possibility of her and Tom “finding each other” sooner than later. In the movie, they play characters unlucky in love whose relationship is rocked by differences in their views on love, haunted as they are by past relationships.

The three stars reveal more of themselves in the “First Time/Last Time” game.

First/last time they felt cheated on

Tom: The first and last time I felt cheated on was several years ago when the girl I was seeing was seeing another guy. I felt really hurt and betrayed.

Carla: I don’t remember the first time, sorry. But the last time was in college when we had an activity for one of our classes and because it was purely for fun, I was clearly cheated on which left us all laughing. I think it was in our Art class.

JC: I don’t remember exactly the first time but I was definitely in a relationship at that time. That was also the last time.

First/last time they fell seriously in love

Tom: The first time was when I was 18, with a girl from Arizona named Jennifer. I thought back then that she was the girl I would end up with. The last time was with my last relationship.

Carla: The first was back in 2004, with someone I really idolized. I was his fan and I would just watch him from afar. The biggest surprise was when I found out that he had a crush on me and wanted to meet me. I couldn’t believe it! The last time was in 2009 with someone I partnered with on TV.

JC: The first time was when I was in first year high school, with my batchmate in Colegio San Agustin (CSA). The last time was recently lang. I had to choose career over love.

First/last time they were broken-hearted

Tom: The first time was with my ex-girlfriend Jennifer. I was devastated and thought it was the end of the world. It hasn’t happened again, knock on wood!

Carla: The first time was when my boyfriend of two and a half years had to let me go because he had to concentrate on his medical studies. It broke my heart because he was my first boyfriend and I couldn’t accept the fact that he couldn’t juggle both our relationship and his studies. I remember bawling and begging for him to stay. We did get back together soon after but things were not the same anymore. The last time was when I found out about something my ex-boyfriend did that he painfully admitted to me. This was years ago, early in our relationship, so it was extremely painful for me to accept. I wanted to just get away… far, far away from him. But I was forced to stay. Now, looking back, I appreciate the fact that at least he was man enough to admit it to me.

JC: The first time was when I was in first year high school when I was dumped by a girl in a batch lower than mine, hahahaha! The last time? Same answer in the previous question (about falling seriously in love).

First/last time they felt guilty about something

Tom: I don’t remember the first time. The last time I did was just this week when I had a cheat day and ate all the food that I wanted to eat, forgetting about my diet.

Carla: The first time was when I stole change from my Mom’s wallet back in high school. I wanted to buy something from Regina’s in Shoppesville in Greenhills after school. The last time was when I fell a day short from saving the life of my English bulldog Rocky. I was just about to bring him to the doctor, but then he died early in the morning.

JC: I always feel guilty every time I eat unhealthy food.

First/last time they told a lie

Tom: I don’t remember the first time. The last time was yesterday when I told my handler I slept early when in fact I was up all night playing video games.

Carla: I don’t remember the first time. I was probably too young then and I must have done it in high school. The last time was just weeks ago when someone asked me how I was and I just said, “I’m okay” even if I was not.

JC: I think lahat naman tayo nagsisinungaling. Pero ako, more white lies.
