Dog whisperer Cesar Millan at Eastwood

MANILA, Philippines - Cesar Millan, star of National Geographic’s No. 1 show The Dog Whisperer, demonstrates his philosophy in the show that healthy, balanced dogs require strong “pack leadership” from their owners, specifically in the form of exercise, discipline and affection (in that order). The top-rated program highlights Millan at work rehabilitating dogs.

The good news is that Millan will demonstrate his work live in Manila on April 29 where he will also answer questions from his Filipino fans. The events are not only informative but also highly entertaining. Venue is the Eastwood Central Plaza. Already, Filipino dog lovers are excited over the coming of their much-loved dog whisperer and meet him in person.

In 2009, Millan launched Cesar’s Way magazine in the US and Canada, for which he is the editorial director. The magazine combines advice from Cesar along with articles about the relationship between dogs and humans. Cesar’s Way is the No. 1 selling dog magazine at newsstands in North America. Millan also has Leader of the Pack, an American documentary series on Nat Geo Wild.

Millan’s work focuses on handling a dog with what he calls “calm-assertive energy.” He approaches dog behavior by teaching dog owners to establish their role as calm-assertive pack leaders. It is the owner’s responsibility to fulfill the dog’s energy level through challenging exercise and to provide clearly communicated rules, boundaries and limitations.

According to Millan, a common pitfall for dog owners is to give a great deal of affection with very little discipline and even less exercise. He encourages owners to understand the effect their own attitudes, internal emotions and physical postures have on a dog’s behavior.

Millan uses vocal marks like tsch or tsst sounds while working with a dog (rather than words, especially the dog’s name), and he encourages owners to create their own unique sound that works for them.

On his April 29, 7:30 p.m. visit at the Eastwood Central Plaza in Libis, expect Millan to interact with his avid Filipino followers. Tickets are now on sale for P8,000, P7,000 and P6,000 plus applicable service charges through www.smtickets.com, www.ticketworld.com.ph, www.ticketnet.com.ph and at regular ticket outlets. Dogs not allowed during show.

Sponsors are Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, Nat Geo Wild, Pet One Dog Food, The Philippine STAR, Manila Bulletin, BusinessWorld, RX 93.1 and 96.3 Easy Rock. The event is a joint production of MMI and Ovation Productions.
