GMA News TV unveils new 8 p.m. strip

MANILA, Philippines - Viewers have more reason to tune in to GMA News TV as the leading local news channel features a new set of programs in its 8 p.m. strip, Diretso Alas Otso, seven days a week from Mondays to Sundays.

The new 8 p.m. block kicks off tonight with the Good News with Vicky Morales. Good News brings viewers positive vibes at the very start of the week with inspiring stories, fun features and a slew of recipes and homemaking info.

Every Tuesday, Jessica Soho mentors the most promising GMA News reporters. They provide in-depth stories behind the headlines in the award-winning Brigada.

On Wednesdays, Susan Enriquez and Cesar Apolinario reintroduce viewers to fascinating  aspects of Pinoy life and culture in I Juander. The program challenges widely-accepted beliefs and gets to the bottom of historical mysteries.

On Thursday nights, Investigative Documentaries bannered by Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism executive director Malou Mangahas tackles corruption issues, anomalies and neglected social concerns.

An adventurous Friday night awaits viewers as Drew Arellano explores tourist destinations and lesser-known attractions around the country and the region — providing practical travel tips and advice in Biyahe ni Drew.

Taking the spotlight on Saturdays is Pop Talk, which reviews a wide array of hot topics — from movies, gadgets, food, events to destinations. Hosted by Tonipet Gaba, Pop Talk, with the help of reviewers comprised of experts, celebrities and ordinary Filipinos, aims to always deliver an honest verdict on the products and services it reviews.

Capping the week is Reel Time, a one-hour documentary that takes local filmmaking to a new level as it features the struggles and triumphs of Filipinos amidst the political and social issues in the country.
