Angelica, John Lloyd try not to mix love life and showbiz work

MANILA, Philippines – Their love for each other may have blossomed while shooting a movie together, but Angelica Panganiban and John Lloyd Cruz said they’d rather not work again in another project.

This is because the showbiz couple would want to separate their love life from their work life.

When asked by members of the press recently if Angelica wondered why it was Toni Gonzaga, and not her, who was paired with John Lloyd in the ABS-CBN Sunday sitcom “Home Sweetie Home,” Angelica explained: “Wala naman talaga kaming plano na magsama sa isang project.”

“Medyo mahirap kasi yung familiarity namin sa isa’t isa. Masyado kaming familiar sa isa’t isa so mahirap pagsamahin kasi talaga yung trabaho at personal,” she further explained.

“Baka maging showbiz yung relasyon namin kaya hindi rin namin siya kino-consider.”

Toni and John Lloyd headline “Home Sweetie Home” as newlyweds Romeo and Julie, while Angelica stars in the gag show “Banana Split: Extra Scoop.”

Angelica laments that she and John Lloyd have only worked once in their more than a decade career as Kapamilya stars (via the 2012 Star Cinema romantic comedy “24/7 In Love”) but adds she got something much better than working again with actor.

“Sayang nga lang dahil once ko lang siya nakatrabaho, e gustong gusto ko siyang makatrabaho dati pa. Ngayon, parang hindi na siya mangyayari,” she said. “Pero masaya naman ako dahil siya yung nakatuluyan ko. Mas gusto ko naman yun.”

In a separate interview, John Lloyd agreed with Angelica’s sentiments about working together. “Mahirap kasi paghaluin yung personal sa trabaho,” he said. “Parang hindi ko siya maarok. Para sa akin, parang almost I don’t see it as a possibility.”

The two, along with other Kapamilya stars, faced the press on Thursday, February 6, for a press conference for all five comedy shows of ABS-CBN — namely, “Home Sweetie Home,” the gag shows “Banana Nite,” “Banana Split: Extra Scoop,” and “Goin Bulilit,” and the youth-oriented program “Luv U.”

The 27-year-old actress shared she treasures her work in the gag shows.

“Kaya rin talagang ginagalingan namin, binibigay namin yung lahat para tumagal ng tumagal yung show,” Angelica said.
