TV5 airs Justin Bieber special

MANILA, Philippines - It’s an early Christmas treat for “Beliebers” as TV5 airs a Justin Bieber special featuring the international popstar’s surprise Tacloban trip to bring cheer to Typhoon Yolanda survivors, as part of his #GiveBackPhilippines global fundraising campaign.

Exclusive video coverage, full-length interviews and never-before-seen footage of the visit are packed in the one-hour special titled Give Love, Give Back Philippines. The full interview of Raymond Gutierrez with the Canadian singer will be seen here for the first time.

As the exclusive broadcaster of Justin’s Philippine visit, TV5 followed the popstar the moment he landed at the airport, all the way to Tacloban and back to Manila to meet and greet some fans. The special captures Justin in a different light, witnessing his genuine desire to help, which endeared him to his millions of fans and made countless Filipinos instant “Beliebers.”

Justin’s visit was a dream come true for hundreds of young survivors, as their idol jammed with them, gave them gifts, sang Christmas carols, danced and played basketball with them. It was a small, spontaneous concert, but to Justin, it was “the most important one” in his Believe world concert tour. He also tweeted that his Philippine stop is â€œthe most important trip of my life.”

“Justin really cares about the people here. Filipinos are tremendously supportive of Justin, so when we knew what happened, it was really important to him to actually come here and show support in addition to raising funds,” said Penni Thow, head of Social Impact for Scooter Braun Projects.

The 19-year-old heartthrob’s #GiveBackPhilippines campaign has raised $1,127,705 in less than two weeks, exceeding his target of $1M donation to Yolanda survivors. His team also produced limited edition shirts with his signature in it, sales proceeds to be donated to TV5’sAlagang Kapatid Foundation.

The TV5 special airs tomorrow at 9:45 p.m.
