MANILA, Philippines - Charity screenings of Maryo J. delos Reyes’ movie Bamboo Flowers — an entry to this year’s Sineng Pambansa National Film Festival All-Masters Edition — will be held tomorrow, Dec. 14, 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m, at the SM Megamall Cinema 4.
The film, which is set in Bohol and is direk Maryo’s tribute to his home province, ‘takes an honest look at people cope with problems, and how like bamboo trees and flowers, they bend amidst strong rains and winds, but never broken.’
Proceeds of the screenings will go to the reconstruction of the Sacred Heart Academy in Loon, Bohol and the Saint Vincent Institute in Maribojoc, Bohol which suffered destruction from the Bohol 7.2 magnitude quake last October.
The screenings are organized by Oplan Bangon Bohol of the Bohol Association in Metro Manila and the Association of Young Boholanos in Metro Manila in partnership with the Film Development Council of the Philippines and Productions 56. It is also supported by the Loon Association in Metro Manila, Inc. Maribojocanons in Metro Manila, Inc. and the University of the Philippines Kadugong Bul-Anon.
