MANILA, Philippines – Eugene Domingo spent most of 2013 making movies. In fact, she made six movies this year—including the recent “Momzillas†and “Status: It’s Complicated.â€
In 2014, the comedienne said she wants to slow down and find time for her romantic life.
“In the beginning of 2013, I said in an interview that I’m gonna make movies with your favorite stars, so I think I fulfilled it,†Eugene said told members of the press at the set of her Metro Manila Film Festival movie (MMFF) “Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel†recently.
“Siguro naman ang dami ko ng nagawa nung 2013 for all of you, ano.â€

“In 2014, I think I’m just gonna put up a garden, learn how to raise flowers and trees, and look for someone to have tea in the garden with,â€
Eugene further explained.
It’s about time
The 42-year-old actress said she is not dating anyone right now. Nor is anyone expressing interest at her romantically. But Eugene said “it’s about time†for her to find love.
“And at the end of the day, after you realize na this is more than I have dreamed of, tao ka pa rin, e. Tao ka pa rin. You also need love,†she said.
Slowing down, of course, doesn’t mean Eugene won’t be making movies next year (although she’ll spend most of 2014’s first half to promote “Barber’s Tales,†her film with director Jun Lana). After all, making films is her passion.

“Pero tignan naman natin yung iba, di ba?†she said. “Baka mayroon pa akong klaseng ligaya na mararamdaman for myself. Baka meron pa akong matututunan na magagamit sa iba kong project.â€
Eugene added: “Life is gonna be more interesting if another character comes into my life, my real life.â€
Definitely the last
Eugene is currently on the tail end of shooting third “Kimmy Dora†movie, which will also star Sam Milby as her leading man.
She described the process of shooting “Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel†as relaxed.
“I have to admit this is the most fun for me—and the most demanding, and the most challenging and the most fulfilling,†the comedienne said of the third Kimmy Dora, adding she hopes the film will attain the critical success of the first film and the financial success of the second.

“It’s because it’s the third and the last. And when I say that, huli na talaga ito. Walang pang-apat na, ‘Huli na talaga, promise’.â€
Eugene was also part of the “Ang Tanging Ina†film series, which has spawned 2011 crossover film titled “Enteng ng Ina Mo†(with Vic Sotto’s Enteng Kabisote series) after promising to end the franchise in its third installment.
While saying goodbye to the franchise is bittersweet for Eugene, she feels it’s the right time to end the comedy film series—especially since it’s the first time Kimmy Dora will be part of the MMFF.
“Hindi siya pwede magtagal na sawa na ang tao. So we might as well end this on a high note,†Eugene said.
