Derek promises to take care of girlfriend Cristine

MANILA, Philippines - Derek Ramsay is openly proclaiming his love for Cristine Reyes on social media.

This is after the Kapatid actor admitted being in a relationship to the Kapamilya actress  on Thursday, August 29.

On his official Twitter account, Derek promised to take care of Cristine in response to a follower’s tweet.

“Love you both... Alagaan mo po sya ha? Hope kayo na forever,” Twitter account Cristine Reyes Fans (@4everaadiks) addressed to both Derek and Cristine on the social networking site.

The “Undercover” actor replied, “I will. I promise.”

Cristine was coy when asked about Derek during the press conference of her upcoming show “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin” on Wednesday, August 28, a day before the actor admitted their relationship. But in an interview with an entertainment website, Derek said they only agreed to be open about their relationship after the said press conference.

Derek also addressed a Twitter user who called out on the actor’s previous proclamation that he would not date Cristine or anyone from showbiz.

“I did say that I’ll never date someone from showbiz and that I’d never date cristine coz she is a friend. I eat my words,” he said in reply to a follower’s tweet.

In an interview with The STAR’s entertainment editor Ricky Lo last July, Derek said he was dating someone non-showbiz and he’s staying away from showbiz girls.

“I have a girlfriend but she’s not from showbiz,” Derek told Lo in his July 8 Funfare column. “I guess I have learned my lesson.”

Derek broke up with actress Angelica Panganiban last year, while Cristine revealed her split with actor Rayver Cruz in a joint interview with ABS-CBN’s showbiz talk show “The Buzz” early this year.

For her part, Cristine shared what he likes about Derek during the “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin” press conference.

“Pareho kaming baliw. Pareho kaming outgoing. Tapos family man siya, iyon yung pinakagusto ko sa kanya,” she said.
