Mark Bautista ready for new relationship, acting project

MANILA, Philippines - Mark Bautista says he is “open and ready” for a new love a few months after his last relationship ended.

The singer-actor recently admitted he was in a relationship until February of this year. He refused to reveal the name of his ex-girlfriend, although he said she is someone from show business.

“Kung may ibibigay sa akin si Lord na perfect, then go,” he told Philstar.com and other members of the press in an interview during the press conference for the nutrition campaign Oh My Gulay! on Tuesday, August 27.

Mark added that while he remains single, family and work serve as his “source of inspiration.” He just currently held a successful anniversary concert and launched his sixth studio album.

“Lahat ng energy ko, sa trabaho ko nabuhos lahat,” he said. “Pag may project ako, sobrang inspired ako.”

The Kapuso artist—who’s been in the entertainment industry for 10 years and has figured in a number of showbiz intrigues—said he is now tougher and wiser.

“Natuto na ako. Minsan, iniignore mo na lang. Hindi rin naman makakatulong sa iyo. Mas madidistract ka kung iisipin mo masyado. Yung energy, binubuhos ko sa trabaho ko,” he said.

Mark added, “Kailangan you just have to know when to act and how to act, respond to these allegations and issues.”

Willing to go indie

The “Sunday All Stars” mainstay is also open to return to acting. His last acting project for GMA 7 was the afternoon soap opera “Yesterday’s Bride.” Still, it’s been a while since he’s done a heavy dramatic role. He also starred in the local adaptation of the musical “The Full Monty.”

Because he misses acting, Mark said he wants to do an independent film.

“Kasi nga ngayon, ang lakas ng indie film. Grabe ang acceptance ng audience sa mga films na ganyang klase,” he said. “Ibang field naman, ibang challenge for me.”

Mark has done numerous television, theater, and movie projects, but he still wants to test the borders of his ability when it comes to acting.

“Kasi uma-acting na ako dati. Pero hanggang saan ko ba kaya um-acting? Makakatulong ba yun sa akin? Makakakuha ba ako ng award sa project na ito?” he shared.

Mark further said, “Pag na-achieve ko yang award na yan, itotodo ko na yang acting.”
