Andrea Brillantes’ constant companion

MANILA, Philippines - In a technology-driven world, mobile devices have become a necessity even for children. As the newest addition to Polaroid’s growing line of star-studded endorsers, ABS-CBN child star Andrea Brillantes  got what she needed and more with the Polaroids Kid Tablet.

The 12-year-old star can’t help but sing praises for her lilac Kids Tablet. “Ang cute niya po kasi color pink, favorite color ko po. Maganda po siya sa bata kasi matibay at shockproof!” she says.

The P4,995 seven-incher also sports three other child-suited colors: Green, orange and blue.

Andrea relates that the tablet has become a must-have for her: In the car, where she uses it for MP3s; at home and in-between takes, where she enjoys video playbacks of Annaliza and leisurely dabbing on the drawing app or the 16 pre-installed child-friendly games. “Favorite ko po iyong My Play Home.”

Andrea adds that the device provides her with educational tools that are essential for snappy and convenient learning.  “Instead po na itanong po sa mommy, puwede na po i-search nalang kay Google...Mayroon po itong books. Mas mabilis po ako natututo kasi naaaliw po ako habang nag-aaral at convenient din po siya dahil hindi ko na po kailangan bitbitin ang mga books. Dito po puwede din po ako mag-review.”

The books are a pre-loaded 35-title collection in the tablet’s e-book library, including 10 Dr. Seuss and Smithsonian books and Andrea’s current favorite, The Witch with No Name. Users have the option to read the books as is, or punch in the Autoplay version, where a native English speaker reads the pages before they are automatically leafed — a feature that aims to make reading more enticing for children.

As a Twitter and Instagram enthusiast, Andrea finds the two-megapixel camera and wifi to be extremely handy for instant photo sharing on social networking sites. Kids Cam lets her capture spontaneous images, and then add in unique photo effects in a snap.

The Kids Tablet’s built-in parental controls are its most child-centric feature. It ensures safer video, Web-browsing and download activities by inhibiting tablet use when kids attempt to open unsuitable webpages or downloads. All installed applications including videos and games have been pre-filtered according to child safety standards prior to distribution.

Completing the childproofing features are the display lock system that prevents viewing interruptions; a snugly fit  detachable tablet stand; and rubber side guards that prevent damage from bumps, scratches or drops. With a speedy 1Ghz processor, Android ICS OS, and a long-lasting battery, it’s no wonder the kiddie tablet bagged a CES Innovations 2013 Design and Engineering Awards trophy as well as Andrea’s trust.
