KC Concepcion is indeed a global Pinay. She was recently hailed as one of the 25 Sexiest International Actresses You Haven’t Heard Of by Complex, a New York-based lifestyle and pop culture magazine. A few years ago, she also graced the cover of Cosmopolitan Magazine Mexico.
Here is how Complex Magazine described her:
“KC Concepcion was born into fame: Her father is ’80s heartthrob Gabby Concepcion and her mother is the ‘Philippine Movie Queen’ Sharon Cuneta. KC is basically royalty, but she’s not riding on her mother’s coattails. She’s the UN’s National Ambassador Against Hunger, she starred in the highest grossing Philippine movie in 2008, For the First Time, she released her first album KC and she’s set to host The X Factor Philippines.â€
Also included in the list are South Korea’s Kim Tae Hee, Malaysia’s Carmen Soo and India’s Priyanka Chopra who won the Miss World title in 2000.
It was nice to see KC again on The Buzz. She was asked on her reaction about being included in the list of Complex Magazine. She enthused, “Thank you but I think iyong sa Complex Magazine is a real surprise because it’s a New York magazine. And hindi ko rin alam kung paano nila ako nakita doon. I feel so proud to be Pinay because I am the only Filipina in the list.â€
Will KC leave the country to pursue an international career? “No. May tatapusin pa akong teleserye at meron din akong uumpisahang hosting job sa ABS-CBN.â€
KC is currently busy with various showbiz projects. Aside from her upcoming teleserye with Judy Ann Santos and Sam Milby titled Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala, she is set to record her new album soon. “We are doing a third album. Ang dami kasing nagre-request. I can’t say the details yet. These days, I want to concentrate on my work.â€
What are her future plans? “When I was around 18 hanggang 20s na ako, I made a three-year to five-year plan. When I reached 25 and 26, sabi ko wala na akong makita for my future. Tapos talagang nagme-meditate ako, wala talaga. So I said bahala na si Lord.†KC said she is not getting married any time soon and she is not in a romantic relationship right now.
Jericho dreams of breaking into Hollywood
Jericho Rosales is enjoying an exciting showbiz career. He is back from Los Angeles where Alagwa, his indie movie about human trafficking, was screened at the Newport Beach Film Festival. He attended the film’s premiere and red carpet events at The Triangle Square Cinema in Costa Mesa, California. This was his second time to attend the filmfest. His first was in 2011 with his movie Subject: I Love You.
Echo received rave reviews for his sterling performance and was cited for Outstanding Acting Achievement at the filmfest together with Michael Shannon (for The Iceman) and Onata Aprile (What Maisie Knew).
He said, “Ang galing lang ng nangyari sa trip na ito kasi I met people who wanted to work with me, who expressed interest na mag-trabaho kami. They actually gave me some scripts to look at and they wanted me to develop the scripts with them.â€
Echo is one of the best actors of his generation. He bravely confronted life’s hard blows and he survived. He draws on his personal experiences to effectively portray his characters. He dreams of breaking into Hollywood someday. Right now, he is connecting with writers and producers in the US to explore possibilities of having an international career.
“Well, iyon ang idea. Iyon ang tinatrabaho ko ngayon kaya nag-extend ako sa trip namin. I was able to meet writers, directors. It’s not easy because you have to be there. The best way is to tape your shows here and then fly for two months (to the US) and meet new people.â€
In spite of the “international†possibilities, he still has big dreams for the local movie industry. “Of course, for the industry may pangarap ako. Hopefully, indie filmmakers like me don’t have to travel abroad to get noticed in the Philippines. I just pray that we don’t have to go out of the country to make movies na talagang magaganda.â€
Echo is a good guy. He’s a brilliant actor, the world is about to discover anytime soon.
