MANILA, Philippines - Yesterday, winners of Potchilikula: Film Festival for the Kids 2012 were announced. Potchilikula is a film festival aiming to look for aspiring filmmakers.
From 43 students who joined the workshop held last December, six best works were chosen to be part of the competition and got the chance to create a film using smartphones about what makes Pinoy kids happy.
From the finalists, Maria Juana Reyes from Malabon Elementary School was named as the Potchilikula Best Director and her entry Ang Piano ni Maddi bagged the Potchilikula Best Film award.
Rincon Elementary School representative Christien Abbey Esguerra’s Bagong Sapatos was hailed as the Best Potchilikula Story while the Ka-Potchi Paborito Award went to the film Ang Paglalaro nina Juan, Miguel, at John sa Damuhan by Jeziel Bulacja of Baclaran Elementary School.
Other representatives who participated in the event were Trizhalyn Maglangit of Camarin D. Elementary School, Karissa Mae Nievera of Navotas Elementary School and Venice Carla Sarmiento of Highway Hills Integrated School.
Aside from the trophies and cash prizes received by the winners, all participants received smart phones from Tropang Potchi.
Several respectable names in the industry such as Kit Go, the official representative of Columbia International Foods Products, Inc.; Gigi Santiago-Lara, AVP for Alternative Productions of GMA Network, Inc.; Jun Lana, Entertainment TV creative director for Drama of GMA Network, Inc.; Larry Ligunas, accounts manager of GMA Marketing and Productions, Inc.; and the chairman of the board of judges, Elvira Go, VP for marketing of Columbia International Foods Products, Inc. and president of Anak TV Foundation served as judges who watched and previewed the entries.
Ka-potchi Julian Trono, Miggy Jimenez, Nomer Limatog, Lianne Valentino, Bianca Umali, Sabrina Man and Lenlen Frial made the event more fun as they participated in the song-and-dance numbers. They also got the chance to share the stage with Frencheska Farr and Alden Richards.
