Douglas will finally rest in peace (in one piece)

MANILA, Philippines - Three years ago (in 2009) when Douglas Quijano died, his talents (among them Ormoc Rep. Lucy Torres and her husband Ormoc Mayorable Richard Gomez, in photo with Douglas) couldn’t let go of him completely so they decided to divide his ashes among themselves. Since then, Douglas has been resting ‘in pieces.’

When the managers’ group commemorated Douglas’ third death anniversary recently, Lucy called upon those who possess pieces of the ashes to surrender them so Douglas may finally rest in peace --- in one piece.

‘Upon the advise of priests, it seems best to gather all his ashes (or at least as much of them as we can), gather them in an urn and place it in a columbary,’ said Lucy who with Richard and Gelli de Belen were the only ones who went out of their way to attend the recent commemorative event for Douglas (where have all the others gone; have they forgotten Douglas so soon?) ‘That way, he will be included in the daily masses for the dead and his remains kept sacred.’

The final, much-delayed burial rites for Douglas will be held this morning at St. Therese Columbary, with a solemn Mass followed by lunch.
