What do popstars Sarah Geronimo and Katy Perry have in common? That they are both females and singers who are young and successful is a given. Think of something a bit far-fetched like this one. The answer that will surprise many is that both Sarah and Katy wear clothes by Furne One. And that is not like saying Sarah and Katy both wear McQueen or McCartney because Furne One is Filipino.
Now the pride of Filipino haute couture, the Dubai-based Furne One has become an international sensation because of his fantastic clothes. He got his big break when he won the Mega Young Designers Competition a few years ago. He next relocated to the Middle East where his labels, Furne One and Amato, became instant hits with the members of the royal families and the moneyed class. He has shows in Fashion Weeks all over the world and has recently opened his first boutique in Los Angeles.
Remember Katy at the MTV Video Music Awards in a black dress inspired by a 45 RPM record? That was by Furne One. He also made that sheer fairytale number for her Wide Awake music video. He has also dressed other big celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Nicole Scherzinger, Nicki Minaj, Amber Rose, Kerli, Neon Hitch, plus supermodel and TV host Heidi Klum and the contestants of Germany’s Next Top Model TV show.
Now Sarah is joining that list. And there will not be one or two or three but six stunning new creations by the Cebu-born Furne One for Sarah to wear at her 24/SG concert. This will be held at the Big Dome in Cubao, Quezon City on Saturday evening, July 7. Conceived as an enchanting feast for the eyes and ears of the audience, I can already imagine how much the elaborate Furne One wardrobe will enhance everybody’s enjoyment. Prepare to oooh and aaah.
24/SG is also Sarah’s 24th birthday celebration. The will feature a mature, sexy and fiercer Pop Princess who will sing and dance her way to your hearts. Watch out, too, for lots of marvels from the computer that will make this truly a once in a lifetime event. Guests include Basil Valdez, Sam Concepcion, Anja Aguilar and others, which also means surprises. I do not think that Sarah herself knows who the most special one will be.
Sarah’s 24/SG is definitely getting ready to make history. With the tremendous success of the show, she has now become the biggest concert draw among the local young performers. The July 7 date has practically sold out and a repeat had been scheduled to accommodate her fans. So if you cannot get the seats you want anymore for this Saturday’s show, I am sure you will have better luck on July 21. But hurry up because the tickets to the latter are also selling fast.
Produced by Viva Concerts and Events, 24/SG is directed by Paul Basinillo, who has done several of Sarah’s music videos and CD covers with Louie Ocampo, who has been Sarah’s musical director for nearly 10 years. Tickets to the show are now available at SM Ticketnet outlets located at SM Department Store’s Customer Service Area. Ticket prices are P3,920, Patron A; P3,360, Patron B; P3,360, Lower Box; P1,680, Upper Box A; P840, Upper Box B; and P448, General Admission.
