One candidate is a kidnap victim, another comes from a cultural minority. But the Bb. Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) is sure that there’s no transgender among the 30 aspirants in the 2012 Bb. Pilipinas pageant set for this Sunday, April 15, at the Big Dome (covered live by ABS-CBN), when three winners will be proclaimed — Bb. Pilipinas-Universe, Bb. Pilipinas-International and Bb. Pilipinas-Tourism.
The contestants are all-female, all naturally-born female, unlike a transgender who’s competing in the Miss Canada-Universe, given the go-signal by Miss U boss Donald Trump, thus generating a controversy with near-universal proportion.
Could it be true that some countries will file a protest against the revision of the traditional rules (regarding gender of contestants) or might even boycott the pageant?
Meanwhile, here are Funfare’s “beauty experts” Felix Manuel, Joey Cezeare, Gery Yumping and Francis Calubaquib’s usual “most likely to make it” choices:

Jag Jeans supports Bb. Pilipinas pageant
This year’s Binibini candidates, led by 2011 Bb. Pilipinas-Universe and Miss Universe third runner-up Shamcey Supsup (above right), look fit and fabulous, ready for the April 15 coronation night, hopeful to bag one of the three titles at stake — Bb. Pilipinas-Universe, Bb. Pilipinas-International and Bb. Pilipinas-Tourism.
The pageant represents the Filipina’s natural beauty, intelligence and compassion, qualities that Jag makers identify with. It’s the world’s ‘sexiest jeans,’ currently proven by endorser Lindsay Lohan.
Jag recently hosted the first-ever Binibini ‘fashion-editorial’ shoot with the 30 candidates (some of them shown here) and ushered them to a store visit where they tried such summer denim items as the ‘cheeky shorts’ and the extra-long ‘catwalk flares.’ —PHOTOS BY BJ PASCUAL
