PLDT WiFi Zones bring Panagbenga to the world

MANILA, Philippines - At the height of the Panagbenga Festival, while elaborate floats made their way down Session Road, countless of virtual tourists tuned in online to see photos and videos of floral masterpieces surrounded by impressive crowds that had turned up to witness the biggest and most famous flower parade in the Philippines.

It would have been impossible to witness the Panagbenga Festival in real time and on such a massive scale just a year ago. But all that has changed since WiFi Zones powered by PLDT were set up all over Baguio City. PLDT VP for Data Acquisitions Retail Business Group, Gary Dujali, explains the expansion: “Putting WiFi Zones all over Baguio was part of a plan that fulfills an ongoing commitment to making PLDT services available to more Filipinos. What better time to launch this latest technology in the North than at Panagbenga?”

Indeed, anyone from Baguio folk to bloggers traveling all the way from Manila was given a first-hand understanding of how WiFi Zones powered by PLDT can dramatically enhance their experience of events. Their enthusiasm for sharing the sights and sounds of Baguio, set against the background of a strong Internet connection via the WiFi Zone, made it possible for the wonders of Panagbenga to be known to more people all over the world.

How? PLDT Business Group head Dan Ibarra says that “PLDT WiFi Zones let you experience the strong connections you have at home without your ever having to miss out on the broadband experience that you’re used to.” So that means posting photos of the parade in real time, updating your status while mingling with the rest of the crowd, and basically just staying connected even while outside of the house!

Manila netizens have been enjoying the convenience of being hooked up to over 3,000 WiFi Zones powered by PLDT from last year.

From its launch during the Panagbenga Festival, WiFi Zones powered by PLDT will now be in service all year-round throughout the city for PLDT myDSL subscribers at a low monthly rate of P150 and P300 for PLDT landline subscribers.

Next stop is PLDT will turn Davao to a Wifi Zone until today. For details, log on to www.pldtwifizone.com.
