MANILA, Philippines - Dead Mine, the landmark co-production by HBO Asia and Infinite Studios, features an international cast and crew.
Directed and co-written by British horror director Steven Sheil (Mum & Dad), Dead Mine stars cult Japanese action star Miki Mizuno (Sasori, Guilty of Romance, Bayside Shakedown); British actors Sam Hazeldine (Weekender, BBC’s Persuasion) and Les Loveday (Mad, Sad & Bad); and Malaysian actress Carmen Soo (Malaysia-Philippines TV series A Time for Us, Singapore TV series The Pupil). Further regional cast members include four Indonesian actors Ario Bayu (The Forbidden Door, Rumah Dara (Macabre)); Bang Tigor (Suami Suami Takut Istri, Menculik Miyabi, Lihat Boleh Pegang Jangan); Joe Taslim (Rasa, The Raid); Mike Lewis (Cinta Fitri, Suster Ngesot); and Singapore-based Japanese actor Jimmy T (American Yakuza, Dance Of The Dragon).
Dead Mine also benefits from the involvement of key creative talents such as in-house production designer Ian Bailie, who served as supervising art director of Atonement and Pride and Prejudice; director of photography John Radel ACS, an Australian cinematographer who has worked on international feature films including Gillian Armstrong’s docu-drama Unfolding Florence, and The Philosophers; artist Orlando Bassi, who has been based in Bali for 15 years and has a studio for prosthetics, wigmaking and special effects, and stunt and action choreography team Action Horizons, which operates the WaterWorld show at the Universal Studios theme park in Singapore, and has worked on movies such as The Usual Suspects, Air Force One and Killers.
Dead Mine is an English language action-horror feature film shot entirely in Batam, Indonesia, both on location and in Infinite Studios’ brand new sound stage facility. It is the first-ever original feature film co-production for HBO Asia. It will be given a theatrical release in selected Asian territories followed by exclusive TV premieres across the HBO Asia network in 2012.
